I’ve lived in Minnesota all of my life, and I’ve done everything you could possibly think of when it comes to winter activities. So, I’ve decided to compile everything into a nice, long list. From baking cookies in your pajamas to braving the cold for a winter hike, here’s your ultimate winter bucket list.

  1. Bake holiday cookies. Who doesn’t love freshly baked holiday cookies?
  2. Have a Christmas movie marathon. The Grinch, A Christmas Carol and the Polar Express? Yes, please!
  3. Go ice skating. Perfect for a romantic date.
  4. Go on a winter hike. While you may get a little chilly, you can’t beat the beautiful snowy views.
  5. Buy matching holiday pajamas. Whether you want to match your family, significant other or your dog, I’m here for it.
  6. Make homemade hot chocolate. Nothing, and I mean nothing (not even Nestle, sorry!), can beat homemade hot chocolate.
  7. Go on a winter lights tour. One of my favorite parts of winter is seeing all of the beautiful holiday lights.
  8. Go sledding. Bring out your inner kid, find the biggest hill and sled down it!
  9. Build a snowman. Grab your carrots and raisins to build the cutest snowman.
  10. Hold a Winter photoshoot. Get under the fairy lights and snap some cute pics.
  11. Make a snow angel. You can truly be an angel.
  12. Build a fort. Build a blanket fort, add some fairy lights and watch your favorite holiday movies.
  13. Play Candyland. Take a break from the stress of work or classes to play a childhood favorite.
  14. Build gingerbread houses. This isn’t just for kids! Get in on the fun and build your dream (gingerbread) house.
  15. Buy an advent calendar. Chocolate, nail polish, wine?! There are endless amounts of advent calendars to purchase.
  16. Donate gifts to local shelters. Whether you donate food or gifts, someone will be very grateful for your donation.
  17. Decorate your own Christmas ornaments. Instead of buying new ornaments, decorate your own.
  18. Mail Christmas cards. Get the roomies together in matching pajamas and send out a Christmas card.
  19. Write a letter to a deployed soldier. It may be weird at first to write a letter to a stranger, but everyone can use a bit of holiday cheer.
  20. Build a holiday playlist. Okay, who doesn’t love holiday music?
  21. Make paper snowflakes. Get out your scissors and cut some snowflakes.
  22. Kiss under a mistletoe. Okay, so you might have to find a mistletoe but it will be worth it.
  23. Go Christmas caroling. So what if you can’t sing? Go out and carol anyways.
  24. Serve a meal at a homeless shelter. Give the gift of time and happiness this holiday season.
  25. Go visit Santa. Bring the kids (or pets) and visit Santa!
  26. Wear or buy an ugly Christmas sweater. Seriously, who doesn’t love a good ugly sweater?
  27. Eat candy canes. Mmm, peppermint.
  28. Make your own peppermint bark. Chocolate and peppermint? Yes, please.
  29. Visit a Christmas market. Shop your heart away at a Christmas market.
  30. Go to a Christmas play. Sing your favorite Christmas tunes at a play.
  31. Decorate gingerbread men. Decorate cookies and eat them after.
  32. Participate in Secret Santa. Grab some friends, coworkers or family and participate in a gift exchange.
  33. Play in the snow. Sure, it’s cold. But you’ll have a blast.
  34. Make popcorn garland. Decorate your apartment with some popcorn, cause why not?
  35. Go skiing or snowboarding. Grab some pals and hit the slopes.
  36. Decorate your own stocking. Head over to your local craft store and buy supplies to decorate stockings.
  37. Drink eggnog. If you’re really getting crazy, drink some eggnog.

What will you be crossing off your bucket list?
