Hey babes! Can you believe it’s already October? I can’t! I swear, Minnesota weather went from sunny 80s to chilly 60s in just a matter of days. So I definitely had to switch my shorts to leggings, and my tank tops to sweaters. There’s always a few fall closet staples that I like, ranging from cardigans to hats.

Even though I love pairing shorts with a cardigan for summer, nothing beats cozying up with leggings and your favorite cardigan. Throw a cardi over your favorite tank top, or dress it up for work. Here’s some cardi’s I’m loving.
Isn’t this an obvious one? Boots are a fall essential around here, especially when the leaves start falling. I love swapping out sandals for short booties in August, and I switch over to taller boots come November. Don’t bring out any black boots yet, stick with cognac, tan or a sandy-colored boot. Here are some of my tried and true favorites!
I’ve always loved a good wide-brimmed hat. Have I bought one before this season? Nope. I’m not sure why, but I always thought hats weren’t “in style,” so I never bothered (even though I’ve always secretly loved them!) But guess what!? My closet is full of them now. Target has such a great selection, and they’re very reasonably priced! No shelling out $80 for one hat (I’m looking at you, Nordstrom) Navy and a sandy-toned hat makes for a super cute look, and those colors tend to match the fall color palette. Here are some of my favorite Target brimmed hats.
Y’all I’m so for the fall jewelry. It’s the time to bring out chunky necklaces, drop earrings and rings galore. My favorite way to pick up new jewelry is through Rocksbox, where you rent three pieces for only $21 per month! Think a “try before you buy” subscription box. Some of my favorite Rocksbox pieces for fall include tortoiseshell earrings, rose gold rings and Kendra Scott pendants. Try a free month of Rocksbox with code “HAILEYALMSTEDXOXO”
Okay, so this isn’t a tangible item but your color palette is just as important as what you’re wearing! Fall is all about the colors babe. Switch out any neons, pastels and whites for dark, rustic shades. Some of my favorites include rust orange, forest green and maroon. Pairing these darker shades with cognac (say, in your shoes or accessories) is a staple look in any closet. Take a look at my fall mood board here.
