Sharing Content Between Social Platforms (& why it’s important!)

Okay, you’re probably thinking “Duh, of course you should share your content” right? But, what you’re probably not thinking is sharing your TikTok or LikeToKnow.It content to Pinterest. In reality, sharing content between social platforms is one of the biggest ways to drive views and clicks to your Pinterest account, but also your other accounts! Here’s what I mean.

What does it mean to “share content” ?

Sharing content is more than just a simple repost. Instead, it’s taking the time to completely reinvent that content—gather new keywords and SEO for whatever different platform your sharing content on. For example, TikTok and Pinterest are two wildly different platforms. BUT, most content put on TikTok will perform well on Pinterest. Why? Because it’s clickable and interesting content—as long as you’re providing something useful to the viewer.

I create and share name logos on TikTok (see below), where I’ve garnered nearly 80,000 video views in less than two weeks. There’s not a large amount of people creating this type of content, so, naturally, it does well! I thought about sharing it to Pinterest, and when I did, I garnered over 40,000 views in one day.

Why should I share content across platforms?

Okay, getting 80K views is great—but you can double, triple, even quadruple that number when you share it across your platforms! And the best thing about it is Pinterest and TikTok (or Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) all have totally different types of audiences. For example:

  • My average TikTok audience is 92% female and 91% based in the US, with a typically younger audience.
  • My average Pinterest audience is 84% female and 40% based in the US, with an age range of 18-24.
  • My average Instagram audience is 86% female and 70% based in the US, with an age range of 25-34.

Between the platforms and different audiences, a few of my videos have over 100,000 combined views—but it wouldn’t be nearly that high if I hadn’t shared content between the platforms. You see what I’m saying?

What types of content should be shared? And what platforms should I share between?

Well, pretty much anything! I’ve found that content from Instagram, TikTok and my blog do really well on Pinterest. I share my try-ons from Instagram to Pinterest and Facebook. I share my TikTok videos to Pinterest, and I share my blog posts to Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook.

Content from just about every social platform should be shared to Pinterest.

  • TikTok—videos can be shared and get a lot of engagement on Pinterest.
  • Instagram—share your daily feed posts!
  • YouTube—clips of the video or make pins on Canva!
  • Blog posts (especially!)

When you’re sharing content, don’t forget to link directly to that content, getting you more views on your different accounts!
